A Life of Service

Robert Del Pozo has lived a life marked by service. Long before he became a caregiver with Total Care Connections, Robert proudly served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1975, beginning with Basic Training at Fort Ord, California, and continuing through Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He went on to serve with the Polar Bears of the 31st Infantry and was later stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, with the Manchus of the 9th Infantry Regiment, where he served on ski patrol.

For Robert, service did not end when his time in uniform came to a close. It simply continued in a different way.

In 1984, Robert became a Certified Caregiver in California, beginning what would become decades of caring for others in some of the most personal and meaningful moments of their lives. After relocating to Arizona in 2009, he continued that work as a live-in caregiver, providing the kind of steady, dependable support that allows people to remain safe, comfortable, and cared for at home.

Robert joined Total Care Connections in 2018 and has since cared for more than 50 Veterans. That number is meaningful on its own, but it only tells part of the story. What makes Robert special is not just how many people he has cared for, but the way he cares for them.

There is a sincerity in Robert that people feel quickly. He brings patience, respect, and compassion into the home. He understands that caregiving is not simply completing a list of tasks. It is earning trust, protecting dignity, paying attention to the details, and showing up consistently for people who are often navigating some of the most vulnerable seasons of life.

For the Veterans Robert serves, that connection carries even deeper meaning. As a Veteran himself, Robert brings a level of understanding and respect that cannot be manufactured. He knows that every Veteran has a story, and he approaches his work with the humility and care that those stories deserve.

At Total Care Connections, our Veterans First Program was built to honor and support the men and women who have served our country. Robert has been one of the people who has helped bring that mission to life, not only through the care he provides in the home, but also through his continued advocacy in the community.

He has represented Total Care Connections by presenting the Veterans First Program at the Southwest Veterans Chamber of Commerce, helped connect Veterans with resources at American Legion events, volunteered with the Salvation Army to assist homeless Veterans at the Stand Down shower station, and continues to serve as a proud member of Disabled American Veterans.

Inside our own office, Robert is also known for the small things that say a lot about who he is. Almost every week, he brings donuts to the team. It is a simple gesture, but it reflects the same heart he brings to his clients and to the Veteran community. Robert notices people. He thinks about others. He looks for ways to encourage the people around him.

That kind of consistency is rare.

Robert does not serve for recognition. He does not seek attention. He simply sees people, cares about them, and does what he can to make their day better. Whether he is caring for a Veteran in their home, helping connect someone to resources, volunteering in the community, or walking into the office with donuts for the team, Robert reflects the very best of what caregiving is supposed to be.

We are proud to share Robert’s story because it represents so much of what Total Care Connections believes in: honoring Veterans, supporting families, protecting dignity, and showing up for people with compassion and dependability.

Robert has spent his life serving others, and we are grateful that he continues to serve Veterans and our community as part of the Total Care Connections family.
